H&M has caused a serious backlash from celebrities regarding an ad showing a black child model wearing a hoodie with the words “Coolest Monkey In The Jungle.”

Celebrities such as Lebron James, P. Diddy, and the Weekn, have all voiced their disapproval of the ad. All have worked with H&M in the past but The Weend Tweeted out this statement.

woke up this morning shocked and embarrassed by this photo. i’m deeply offended and will not be working with @hm anymore

Publicity Stunt or Just A Terrible Idea?

In this day and age I am shocked that this wouldeven have a chance to go public. The ad original aired over the weekend on the British version of the Swedish-based retailer’s website and was removed by Monday morning, a spokesperson told CNBC.

H&M Reasponded with :

“We sincerely apologize for offending people with this image of a printed hooded top,” a spokesperson wrote to CNBC. “We believe in diversity and inclusion in all that we do and will be reviewing all our internal policies accordingly to avoid any future issues.”

It just so happens that his marketing nightmare from H&M comes right after the company released a statement that their quarterly sales had the biggest drop in over a decade.

Could this be a publicity stunt to start some drama to bring back more revenue for the next quarterly numbers? How could this have even made it through quality control? Did someone actually think this ad was actually ok to release to the public?
